1. What is Polaris?
Polaris is a lightweight ergonomic Intraoral Camera used for visual aid to enhance patient education in today’s hi-tech dental offices.

2. Which Polaris model is right for my practice?
Polaris USB connects directly into your computer for a seamless integration. The 10 foot single USB Umbilical connection provides both power and data transfer.
Polaris Universal enables full integration into your practice via multiple connectively options, including S-Video, Live Composite Video and USB outputs.

4. How do I capture images with Polaris?
Each keypad button provides the handpiece fingertip control over the PC imaging software via the USB Umbilical.

Top Keypad Button: Press to toggle between live and frozen images.
Bottom Keypad Button: Press to save the frozen image into the patient record.

5. Can I save the images?
Yes, with the use of an Authorized Imaging software; intraoral images can be captured and stored within a patient’s record to track the patient’s oral hygiene over time. The images allow the dentists to easily explain the clinical situation and the required treatment plan to the patient. Therefore Polaris is an excellent tool to promote better oral hygiene to patients and motivate them to carry out a professional tooth cleaning.

6. Do I have to manually focus?
No, Polaris has a Fixed-Focus which allows all objects from 6mm to 40mm to remain in sharp detail.

7. How far does the camera lens rotate?
The patent-pending swivel lens will enable up to 330 degrees of rotation to view every area of the oral cavity with ease.

8. Is the Polaris USB compatible with older Air Techniques Intraoral Cameras?
No, due to the advances in technology and ergonomics introduced into the Polaris USB Camera, existing Air Techniques Acclaim Intraoral Camera equipment will not be compatible with Polaris USB.

9. What are the minimum computer requirements for Polaris?

10. What imaging software do I need to operate Polaris?
A current list of Authorized Imaging Software Vendors for the Polaris Camera can be found at the Air Techniques website. www.airtechniques.com

11. How do I install Polaris?
Installing Polaris is as simple as making the necessary connections of the USB Umbilical between a PC and the Polaris handpiece. An authorized imaging software application such as VISIX must also be installed on the PC to allow operation of the camera. (Please refer to the owner’s manual for detailed setup instructions)

12. How do I clean Polaris?
Clean each component of the Polaris camera system as necessary by performing the following procedures.

    1. Polaris Handpiece - Following every patient use, remove the infection control sheath from the handpiece and dispose of in accordance with local regulations. The Polaris Handpiece can be wiped clean and disinfected with any non-corrosive surface disinfectant such as Birex® se.

    2. Handpiece Window Lens - Remove debris or spots from lens window by cleaning with alcohol and cotton swabs.

14. What is the warranty?
Polaris is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship from the date of the initial installation for a period of 3 years.
